owl avocado blogAn Alligator Pear is an avocado… don’t you know?!

Now, I consider myself to be a pretty smart owl and it embarrasses me to say that I didn’t know avocados grew on trees. Well, I had never given it much thought. So I was fascinated to learn recently about some interesting avocado facts which even inspired me to twist Big Mamma’s arm and swap Olive Oil for a trial run and replace it with Avocado Oil.

Here are some interesting facts about avocados:

  • The Aztec word for avocado was ahuacatl, which means “testicle tree”
  • Avocados contain more potassium than bananas
  • Brazilians add avocados to ice cream

Which fact do you think made me chuckle?

So, in our kitchen we have been using avocado oil on salads mainly, and also on Big Mamma’s face. Yeah, you read that right, her face!

Apparently it’s amazing for your skin but it does leave you smelling like a salad.
