With the current economic gloom, sales of everything from clothes to cars are slumping. But bucking the trend and proving to be rather recession resistant is good old chocolate! We like our affordable luxuries and a good piece of chocolate can sweeten even the toughest of days.
For my blog post this week, I’ve had the good fortune of sampling some rather delicious chocolates. Well somebody had to let you know what the best buys are with Christmas fast approaching.
Chocolate Trading Co.
They are an online specialist in fine chocolate, with a wide selection of gourmet chocolate gifts, bars and novelties. From some lovely looking angel chocolate tree decorations at £2.95, to a Santa Christmas chocolate hamper at £29.95, to some beautifully boxed truffles at £9.75. This is quality at a good price delivered to your door.
With good quality chocolate available online and in specialist stores, they also offer a tasting club! There are some great gift options from a Mega Nibblatron (milk chocolate robot!) for the kids priced at £7.50 to some cute Rose & Violet Crème boxes from £14, to a £50 gorgeous night-in hamper. They have a huge variety of great tasting chocolate, at reasonable to expensive prices.
This ethical chocolate is 45% owned by the coca farmers themselves, so you’ll feel doubly good about yourself. 100g bars sell for just £2. They have an 80% dark chocolate bar – perfect for grownup cooking and gifts sets range from £12.50 – £50. Their chocolate is now widely available, from supermarkets to their online store.
These guys are an online chocolate shop dedicated to delivering the finest Belgian, Swiss and English chocolates. You can get truffles from £11.99 to hand made slabs at £19.99, yum! They also offer free delivery as standard.
Good old Thorntons!
They need little introduction but are offering lots of deals at the moment including 3 for 2, a free continental box when you spend over £25 and check out our voucher page for more.
In short you can’t go wrong this Christmas with a chocolate gift!
Interestingly, make-up is also bucking the trend with a sales uplift this year – so if you’re reading this Bobbi Brown or Yves Saint Laurent, do send me some samples at the office address and I’ll review for you next week!
