I think it should be compulsory and I thought most Schools had at least 2 hours of PE scheduled weekly, anyway? I know my Daughter's School do 3 days a week (1 hr each session) as standard mixing indoor/outdoor PE with other team sports such as football,
netball, hockey etc.
We went to a kids party this weekend and I was actually shocked at the number of children who were inactive and overweight/obese. The active kids who ran around happily on the huge inflatables had a great time and the larger kids would run around for maybe
a minute then have to sit down as they were sweating heavily and out of breath. The age ranges of these children were 5 -7 years old.
I'd have been horrified if that was my child and probably ashamed if I'm honest. 2 hours a week for PE is nothing at all and should be seen as the norm and not a chore. It really worries me the mentality of some people.
