Onion soup mix is a versatile little beastie, you may be thinking ‘what the hell is she talking about, onion soup mix makes, well, onion soup’! Ah, well so did I until recently.
Cleaning out my kitchen cupboard I found a lonely packet of onion soup mix, I was just about to throw it out when I decided to post the question on Reddit. What can you make with a packet of onion soup mix?
The answers left me nodding appreciatively and rather excited to be using this ammo as a new found member of my kitchen armoury.
Are you ready to elevate your culinary knowledge? Packet soup at the ready!
Mix the packet of onion soup mix in with the ground beef and voila!
2. Soured cream dip
Add some of the packet to a pot of soured cream and leave in the fridge for a few hours to soak up the flavour. Great with crudites or a naughty bag of crisps!
3. Roast potatoes
Get sprinkling and then roast those tatties to crispy perfection.
4. Salad dressing
Mix with vinegar of your choice, a touch of olive oil and off you drizzle.
5. Oven baked chicken
Mix it with cream and mushed garlic and pour over chicken breasts and bake in the oven. If cream is a bit too fatty then you could try using yogurt.
I hope this has given you a new perspective on that dusty packet of onion soup mix in the back of your cupboard and if you are feeling particularly creative why not make your own version of the dry mix.
