As the weather starts to slowly turn from gloomy to Spring, you’ll notice people’s moods start to change and the energy in the air feels just a little lighter. Although we may feel more bouncy, going back to a cluttered home is one sure fire way to put a dampener on that good mood!
Louise Unger of The Camouflage Company has shared her top 4 decluttering tips with us
1. Visualise the Rooms You Want to Declutter
Spend a few minutes visualizing the rooms you want to declutter – think about how you want it to look. What are the essential pieces of furniture? What belongs in the room, what doesn’t. Once you’ve visualized how the room will look uncluttered and figure out what is essential – try and get rid of the rest
2. Boxing Clever
As you set out to declutter an area, buy four boxes: mark them trash, give away, keep, relocate. Try and place each item in every room into one of the four categories. Consider each item individually, it will make the process easier. Some projects take an hour, some days or weeks
3. Define What Clutter Means to You
What is clutter? Clutter is anything you’re keeping around the house that doesn’t add value to your life. Decluttering is all about making room in your home for the things that matter.
4. Garage Sale or Car Boot it Baby
When it comes to clothing, we generally only wear 20% of the clothes we own 80% of the time. This rule tends to hold true for other things as well, such as video games, computer parts, books, toys and more. Your mission is to get rid of the things you don’t use 80% of the time.
