The Bodyguard show is based on the blockbuster movie of the same name that originally starred Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.

Superbreaks do a great deal on London theatre breaks that means you could bag a hotel stay with breakfast and tickets to the show from £70 per person.

In the musical theatre version, now out at the West End in London, Tristan Gemmill plays Frank Farmer, an ex-secret service agent who has been bought in to protect superstar Rachel Morran played by Beverley Knight from a dangerous stalker.

Rachel is portrayed as a really tough, strong woman, who feels she doesn’t need protecting. She then falls in love with Frank the bodyguard. It’s a romantic thriller and very entertaining throughout.

Stars in the show

  • Nicki Marron – Debbie Kurup

Is it good value for money?

Yes definitely, we had good seats in the theatre and the whole show was very entertaining and fun. Superbreaks do a great deal on London theatre breaks that means you could bag a hotel stay with breakfast and tickets to the show from £70 per person.

What didn’t you like about the show?

There was nothing I didn’t like about the show! I just loved everything about it from start to finish.

thebodyguard theatre-reviewWho would you recommend to see it?

The Bodyguard is a great show for everyone (especially if you loved the classic film – and who could forget that infamous Whitney Houston song!) I would recommend as a fun night out with your partner or friends. However, I wouldn’t recommend kids under the age of 12  because some of the scenes can be quite scary.

What was the best thing about the show?

I think the best thing about the night was hearing Beverley Knight singing. She has an amazing voice and really captivates the audience. The young boy Elliott Aubrey who played Fletcher, Rachel’s son was also a great performer and had a brilliant voice on stage.

I love the storyline and the production was incredible – they really did think of everything. I was a bit skeptical at first because I had seen the movie so many times and was worried that the show wouldn’t live up to my expectations, but the set was amazing and it was even better than watching the movie.
