Hillhead Caravan Club is a family Site with lots of activities for the whole family from splashing around in the outdoor heated swimming pool, having fun in the playground, kite flying or playing football in the acres of playing fields. The Caravan Club is set in beautiful countryside location with stunning views all around. The surrounding areas are great for walks, cycling and nature trails.
We arrived at the Caravan Club in the afternoon and went to check in at Reception which is a large, attractive building just as you drive into the Club. The staff who greeted us were very welcoming and gave us all the information that we needed to make the most of our stay. This included leaflets for local attractions and the evening entertainment guide and pool opening times. We were then shown to our Bailey Caravan. The Caravan was spotless and beautifully set up. The bedding was clean and fresh (bedding provided for review purposes only) and we had lots of facilities that we weren’t expecting. An amazing spacious shower in the bathroom area, a great double bed, sofa’s, cooking facilities and utensils and a radio, not too mention wi-fi for those who need it. Beside our caravan we had a garden area where we cooked our barbecues and left our car.
The facilities on site are second to none. First of all was the outdoor heated pool which the children absolutely loved. My daughter who is four loved the children’s pool which had lots of fun guns to squirt water, rockers to climb on and lots of space to play with her toy dinghy. The water was shallow and lovely and warm. My two boys of 8 & 9 who are keen swimmers loved the big pool and especially at certain times when all the children could bring inflatables to the pool and have lots of fun. There were plenty of sunbeds around to lounge on and tables and chairs so no shortage of places to sit if you didn’t want to swim.
There is a restaurant and bar area which serves really great family food. The menu is vast and covers all types of variety and caters for all appetites. There is a kid’s menu and we were impressed by the choices. As well as an indoor bar and eating area there is an outdoor area too. So if you prefer to eat outside you can. After dinner there is great family entertainment, my children were mesmerised by the Magic Show and another evening the Talent Show and after each evening’s entertainment we played bingo which the children loved. There is also a games room where the children can play pool and various other games to keep them busy.
On site there is a shop and it serves amazing pastries first thing in the morning. It has all the sundries you may need for your stay and lots of water toys for the children. You can get your daily newspapers and magazines, drinks, milk, bread, cereals, pasta and meats here, it really is like a mini supermarket.
For those that need to use laundry facilities while staying at the club, there are plenty of washer/dryers and also washing up areas where you can pop along and wash your cooking utensils if you have decided to have a meal at your accommodation before heading over to watch the entertainment.
I had wondered what the shower facilities would be like and I was really surprised to find first class washing facilities with plenty of space and hair dryers too. Plenty of toilet facilities also that were cleaned regularly.
There is an area to place your rubbish and this is collected regularly. This means that the area always looks tidy. There is also a fresh water facility where you can top up your bottles as and when you need.
We visited the on site park area daily and the children loved it. It caters for all ages and it is very clean and tidy and clearly well looked after. There is a wooden climbing frame with a huge slide, swings, a seesaw and my son’s favourite, a spider swing! Next to the park is a huge field with football goals and a separate gated area for dogs which we appreciated as one of my boys is not very fond of dogs. The children all loved playing football and other ball games here and they made lots of friends with other children who were also holidaying at the club. Some children were flying kites on the field too which was great for everyone to watch.
We all loved our time at the Caravan Club, the children are kept busy and in turn we had some time to sit back and relax. We are already planning our return trip there next year.
