As the beach holiday specialists, On the Beach knows that a lot of thought and planning goes into your family holiday; from picking your perfect destination, to finding the right price for you.

A recent survey by the My Family Club community showed that the majority of families only take one holiday a year, making it even more important to find an escape that’s just right.

Where Should You Pick?

Family Snorkelling

If you’re looking for guaranteed sunshine all-year-round, then you should check out the Canary Islands. Tenerife is a top-seller for On the Beach, boasting an array of family-friendly activities such as Siam Park (an adventure water park), and Loro Park, the island’s best zoo.

Or, if you want a slightly quicker flight time, the Balearic Islands are just 2 hours away and boast some truly stunning beaches. Go for a stroll around Palma City, Majorca; or chill out on the white, sandy beaches of Santa Eulària, Ibiza.

If, however, like over a quarter of those surveyed, you’ll be trying a new destination this year, why not make a change from Spanish Islands and visit the gorgeous Algarve in Portugal? A recent report from the Post Office revealed the Algarve to be the most affordable destination in the world for UK tourists, so if you want to immerse yourself in some local tradition, why not give the Algarve a try?

How Do You Keep Your Costs Down?

It’s no surprise that the majority of people we surveyed said that holiday price was most important to them when choosing a family holiday, but how do you make sure you’re getting the best deal?

If you’ve not been organised enough to book well in advance, or if you just fancy a spur of the moment escape, you can still get a great last minute deal.

Most holiday companies will have late deals so, although generally the rule is ‘book early and save’, there are still plenty of special offers for you to take advantage of.

Look out for flexible payment schemes. At On the Beach, we allow you pay a percentage of your flight cost when you book (deposits start from £50pp), pay the rest of your flight 28 days later and then your remaining balance is due just 2 weeks before you fly. By spreading the cost of your holiday this way, it allows you the flexibility to spend more on the holiday you deserve.

What Else Should You Look Out For?

Kids sandcastle

While holiday cost came out top for importance when booking a holiday, financial protection was voted second place for family holidays, ahead of kids clubs and testimonials through word of mouth.

On the Beach offer full financial protection and are members of ABTA.  Our ATOL trust means that if we, or one of our travel suppliers has a problem, customers won’t lose money paid for a holiday or flight abroad, and are not stranded in a foreign country. It’s important to have this peace of mind, especially when taking your family abroad, so only book where you see the ATOL logo.

Founded in 2004, On the Beach is the UK’s leading beach holiday specialist.  With more than 60 million website visitors this year, over one million customers found, booked and enjoyed their perfect On the Beach holiday.
