My best friend Julia is getting married and has asked me to be a bridesmaid.
I am very excited. Although slightly panicked that I’ll always be the bridesmaid and never the bride (this is my 3rd time in the past two years!)
I have to organise the hen do, go dress shopping and I’m rather (perhaps worryingly) eager to help out wherever I can.
The first thing I’ve learnt about weddings is that as soon as you mention the word, prices double. So for my friend Julia and anyone else who may be getting engaged this coming Valentine’s Day, here are some top sites and tips to help you get organised, plan and reduce those costs!
Hitched.co.uk is a free wedding planning website to help with every aspect of getting married – from the engagement through to your honeymoon.
They have some good competitions, a forum to chat to other brides when your friends get bored (promise I won’t if you’re reading this Julia.) Loads of pictures for inspiration, plus a comprehensive budget planner and to-do-lists – everything you need to get organised!
TheWeddingCommunity.com is a site with loads of wedding advice articles written by experts as well as photo galleries, videos, planning tools and a very useful directory of suppliers and venues.
Getwed.com is a stylish site with lots of interactive planning tools, expert blogs, a community and fashion and beauty tips. You can even create your own wedding website, keeping your guests up to date by adding photos, videos, maps and news feeds – you can get really carried away!
MyFamilyClub also some great tips on how to have a cheaper wedding: from ringing the changes to setting a budget. Tips well worth a close read if you’re planning a wedding!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
