“Wouldn’t it have been lovely for the heatwave to start and end during the summer holidays, in order to give parents a break over the six weeks off? Well, unfortunately, as we enter the halfway point for the summer holidays, the rain has made its unwelcome return!

“Even though most of the UK has just had to deal with the odd bout of rain here and there, it’s interesting to see that parents are getting their contingency plans in place and searching specifically for things to do when there’s a downpour.

“Don’t think you have to splash the cash to keep the kids entertained; get some materials and hold an arts & crafts day at home or pick a movie and watch it as a family with some popcorn and themed food. You can even get together with other parents and their children for a home-based day, maybe you could even stage your own mini bake off with the other parents and kids!”
