Juggling work with family commitments can be a tricky task at the best of times.
But Alison Garnham, chief executive of the Child Poverty Action Group, has suggested a number of potential solutions which might improve things for parents on low incomes who want to support their loved ones.
She believes parents based in London may be in particular need of support from the Government.
Ms Garnham said: "Better financial support for those on low wages, affordable childcare and better part time opportunities are essential so parents can have jobs they can raise a family on."
While families across the UK have felt the impact of the country's spending squeeze in recent times, the expert indicates that those in the capital have been hard hit by "rocketing living costs and stagnant or falling incomes".
