Coach boost for mini-break budgets

If you're planning on heading up to beautiful Scotland for a weekend break with the family but are wanting to do things on a shoestring budget, a new bus service could be right up your street.

Megabus has launched an overnight sleeper coach service between London and Glasgow, and fares are available for as little as £1, meaning that the travel side of things will barely touch your mini-break spends.

For your fare you will get a bunk, a duvet, a pillow and a blanket, meaning you can get some sleep as the bus eases up the motorway.

For those travelling with people too excited to sleep, a reading light is available, as well as the option of sitting in a seat for the entire journey.

The availability of free Wi-Fi on-board could also be a great time saver, allowing you to plan what you will be doing in Scotland while you're still travelling.

With toothpaste, a toothbrush and a bottle of water provided, you may also be able to save more time by dodging that last-minute trip to the station chemist.

The service runs seven nights a week, leaving London at just after 11pm and arriving in Glasgow at 7am the next day.

Stagecoach Group chief executive Sir Brian Souter said: "We've had huge interest in the sleeper coach. Feedback from the trials we have carried out over the past two months has been very positive about the extra comfort, facilities and the great value prices."
