If you're looking for a cheap yet thoroughly enjoyable family holiday this spring, you might want to investigate the wonderful world of camping.
Camping trips not only get the kids' vote, they can also help parents to save some all-important cash in what remains a difficult economic climate.
And figures from the Camping and Caravanning Club suggest that bookings for the Easter holiday period are already 5% higher than they were last year and 28% greater than in 2010.
If you're keen to take advantage of the camping craze, you could get basic pitches for as little as £10 during the upcoming Olympic Games, travel sites say.
Camping and Caravanning Club director general, Robert Louden, said: "With so much going on in 2012, this is the perfect time to make the most of the UK and take a holiday - our booking numbers are extremely positive at this stage."
Figures from Halfords indicate that camping equipment sales surged by nearly 50% in the lead-up to the Easter holiday season.
The firm's camping expert, Paul Fensome, said: "It's clear camping is becoming more popular and the activity is now a regular part of many people's holiday plans."
