If you've been worried about the cost of feeding the family this Christmas, new research has offered a timely lifeline by compiling a list of budget options to help you afford a traditional, affordable dinner with all the trimmings.
And the Good Housekeeping Institute has done much of the hard work for you - mixing and matching items from across the UK's leading food outlets and finding that you can actually put on a substantial and delicious festive spread for just £2.89 per person!
It has created a shopping list designed to feed eight people at a total cost of £23.08 - peace of mind indeed for those of us already apprehensive about breaking the bank this December.
Some of the savings are particularly significant, such as Lidl's Glenfell frozen self-basting turkey which costs just £9.99 for up to 4.4kg.
Elsewhere at Lidl, the institute found a kilo of frozen button sprouts for just 99p. The meal also includes two 85g packs of stuffing from the Tesco Value range costing 15p each, and a 200g pack of the supermarket's cranberry sauce at 50p.
Sainsbury's offers a 1.5kg pack of carrots for just 75p, while a 2kg bag of King Edward potatoes costs £1.40 at Asda. For parsnips, the institute suggests two 500g bags from Morrisons for 50p each.
And when it comes to dessert, try an 800g iced Christmas cake from Morrisons costing £3.49, along with two packs of Sainsbury's Basics mince pies at just 63p for six.
Also included on the menu are two Tesco Value Christmas puddings with cider priced at £1 each.
