The 'grow-your-own' revolution is sweeping the country as families enjoy the considerable financial savings at the supermarket, not to mention the great taste of producing their own food.

And according to a new report, heading down to the allotment can also inject some zing into your love life.

Seven in 10 people who grow their own food said they do so with their partner, and find that the experience has brought them closer together.

Many of those surveyed said their new healthier lifestyle had helped to pep up their love life.

And it's not just relationships with partners that benefit from growing your own. Eight in 10 people said their children also enjoyed planting and nurturing their own food - and what better activity to share with the little ones?

Meanwhile, all of those surveyed said growing and eating their own food has made them feel generally healthier.

Hundreds of people took part in the online survey ahead of the Edible Garden Show at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire which takes place from March 16-18.
