Ppreparing Christmas dinner can be stressful enough as it is for mums and dads, without the added trauma of food wastage.
But it appears that for many of us the pressures of getting everything just perfect for the family can get the better of us, with new figures showing that households up and down the country waste a collective £31 million each year on festive cooking mistakes!
A staggering statistic I'm sure you'll agree, and one which Asda is hoping to put an end to this year - with the launch of new online help.
With less than a month until the big day, minds are already beginning to turn to the kitchen, and the supermarket giant has complied a survey collating the most common mistakes made each and every year.
Unsurprisingly, problems with the turkey rank high on the list. Raw or overcooked meat is the top festive fear for the majority of us, with the prospect of throwing out raw or undercooked meat the last thing anyone had in their plans.
Overall, only a third of us are planning to prepare the whole meal from scratch, not leaving anything to chance with pre-packaged sauces and Christmas puddings.
Nobody is perfect, and the Asda research suggests that over one in five of us will make a mistake this year, with each family wasting roughly £9.
Asda has partnered with world famous cookery school, Leiths, to create a series of hints and tips to try and restore Brits' confidence in their Christmas cooking abilities! Videos and a downloadable 26 page booklet are available on the Your Asda site.
