Sticks are one of winter’s treasures – just like conkers in autumn, daisies in spring and buttercups in summer.
They are everywhere and kids just love to pick them up. Bundle up warm get a tough canvas bag and go stick hunting! It makes a nice change for kids to be told to pick them up not put them down.
When you get home put an old sheet down on top of your floor and start making stick pictures. Can you make a house? What about a person? Can you make a kennel for your soft toy dog or how about a chair? Big flat stick pictures are great fun to make and stick hunting makes a winter walk really exciting.
