1. Head online or to the supermarket for savings

Cheap camping holidays start with cheap camping equipment. Instead of buying your camping gear from specialist stores, you can make some great savings by thinking outside the box and finding supermarket bargains. You can even get tents and larger camping equipment at discount prices. Plus, there are specialist websites such as Freegle, where you can pick up items for free.

2. Become a member of a club

It may cost £40 a year to join the Camping and Caravanning Club but in the long run it will mean you can have more cheap camping holidays as you can save money on bookings and you’ll get other freebies too. Also, look at getting a camping card, this allows you to pay even less when you travel off-season.

3. Hunt down the right site for your family

Finding the perfect location to suit your family’s needs is important. That’s where websites such as and come in.  You can pinpoint exactly what you need by using the search criteria, whether that be bringing along your family pet or finding a site near the sea.

4. Plan for rain

Let’s face it, there is every chance that the weather might not be as sunny as you’d hoped! Worried? For cheap camping holidays in any weather, you can book a place at the YHA – an affordable indoor solution if the heavens do decide to open up. But there is another option… pitch a tent in the living room!

Happy Camping!
